We started Reserved To Fight five years ago a week after Fox Company 2/23 returned home from Operation Iraqi Freedom. We began documenting the stories of the marines in Fox Company and the longer we filmed their journey of coming home, the more important we felt it was to share their stories. Along the way, we were picked up by ITVS (a PBS affiliate) which helped us complete the film. Paul Reickhoff with the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America also jumped on board to help us finish the film, raise awareness and take action. We are so excited that it is finally finished, and we are so grateful for everyone who helped to make this film possible, especially the veterans who shared their lives with us and the world. We are now awaiting a premiere at a film festival, but on Tuesday, we had a private friends/family/cast/crew screening, and it was so great to see a full house and such a positive response. Thanks to everyone who came and showed their support. It was so wonderful to see so many people as passionate about helping veterans as we are. One of my favorite moments of the night was when someone from the audience came up to one of the marines in the film after the screening was over and through tears expressed how grateful she was for the film. She told him that finally she was able to understand her father who landed on the beaches of Normandy in WWII that through his whole life never talked about his experiences. But after seeing the film, she finally felt like she understood him. I can't wait for everyone to get a chance to see this film.
